Selena started her professional career at the age of eighteen in a band formed by the late Abraham Quintanilla. The band was composed of Selena as well as her siblings Abraham junior, who played base guitar as well as sister Suzette who was a drummer as well as Selena was the vocalist of the band. Selena Y Los Dino was the name of her band and Selena sang with her siblings at restaurants, bars and at wedding events. Selena didn't have a great time in her childhood because the band needed lots of time. But their father Abraham was determined to inspire his children and make them committed musicians. Abraham senior was a member of the band that was originally called Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos began to form in 1981. Selena received the award for Female Vocalist and Performer at the Tejano Music Awards in 1986. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to win prizes of the Tejano music awards which led to their increasing notoriety and fame. They appeared on numerous Spanish programming on television including El Show De Johnny Canales Siempre En Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
